As PromisedMichigan defeats Notre Dame 38-0. By: C.A. HunterFG Senior Writer
Michigan RB Mike Hart made good on his promise. The Michigan Wolverines did win. Correction: The Michigan Wolverines humiliated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. When the Big House cleared, the scoreboard read, “Notre Dame 0, Michigan 38.” On a day when the world was watching, everyone wanted to see which historical program would start their season off at 0-3. After two unforgettable losses to Appalachian State and Oregon, Lloyd Car was having no part of a 0-3 start. The Wolverines dominated in every aspect of the game. Hart finished the game with 187 yards and 2 TD’s. As Michigan's starting QB Chad Henne watched from the coaches-box due to injury, freshman QB Ryan Mallet threw for 3 TD’s, on 7-15 passing. Three games into his third year as head coach, Charlie Weis finds himself at 0-3, and his offense has yet to score a touchdown. Notre Dame was held to 79 total yards. After his second year as head coach, Weis was awarded a hefty 10-year extension. This may soon turn into an ugly situation for the Fighting Irish. In a controversial move, Former head coach Tyrone Willingham was fired in 2004 after his third season, in which the Irish finished 6-5. Willingham, an African American, finished with a 21-15 record in three seasons. Weis’ record now stands at 19-9. If the Irish don’t make drastic improvements soon, many will question the policies in place in Indiana.
