NFL Predictions - Super Bowl XLIVGary Alleva, NFL Analyst

New Orleans Saints(15-3) vs. Indianapolis Colts(16-2) (Sunday, February 7, 2010, 6:25 PM ET, CBS, Sun Life Stadium, Miami, FL)- My heart tells me to pick the Saints in this game, but my mind says to never pick against Peyton Manning. New Orleans seems like a team of destiny with an entire city living and dying with every game. Drew Brees is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in NFL history, and he has more weapons alongside him than anyone else. Do not forget that the Saints were sixth in the NFL in rushing this season. Also, their defense beats up opposing quarterbacks, takes the ball away with relative ease, and ultimately decides the outcome of games. The Colts could possibly be playing for a perfect season if they had elected to play their starters for the entire game the last two weeks of the regular season. However, no one will complain if they hoist the Lombardi Trophy Sunday night in Miami. The Indianapolis defense is the fastest in the league, and they are extremely underrated. However, the infamous ankle injury for defensive end Dwight Freeney could alter what the Colts do defensively. If he cannot play or is limited, they might have to blitz more to get pressure on Brees. Then, there is Peyton Manning. He has turned receivers like Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon into stars almost overnight. He also has superstars like tight end Dallas Clark and wide receiver Reggie Wayne in his arsenal. With the Indy running game nearly non-existent this year, the load has been on Peyton more than ever. Ultimately, I cannot bet against perhaps the greatest quarterback of all-time, Peyton Manning. Prediction: Colts 34, Saints 31.
