2009 NFL Power Rankings Week 18

Chace Chezem, Football Gameplan Contributor

1.      Colts (14-2-0): Indianapolis played a poor game against Buffalo, mustering only seven points. Luckily, they maintain their number one slot.

2.      Chargers (13-3-0): San Diego managed to grab the victory against Washington in a 23-20 battle.

3.      Vikings (12-4-0): The Giants stood no chance as the Vikings routed them 44-7 in last week’s bout.

4.      Saints (13-3-0): Three consecutive losses have New Orleans thankful for the time off.

5.      Cowboys (11-5-0): Shutting out Philadelphia last week has Dallas motivated going into the playoffs.

6.      Packers (11-5-0): Their victory over Arizona was strong but can they do it back-to-back?

7.      Eagles (11-5-0): The Eagles crumbled against Dallas putting up a goose egg. This Saturday calls for a rematch.

8.      Bengals (10-6-0): The Jets trounced the Bengals last week, shutting them out. They’ll be playing each other again this week in the wildcard weekend.

9.      Cardinals (10-6-0): Arizona will need to bounce back and hit Green Bay hard if they hope to not lose their rematch this weekend.

10. Patriots (10-6-0): New England was defeated 34-27 by Houston. Saturday they’ll be butting heads with Baltimore.

11. Ravens (9-7-0): The Ravens fought it out and secured a victory last week. Baltimore travels to New England this week.

12. Jets (9-7-0): Cincinnati had nothing going against New York. Will they pose any threat this Saturday?

13. Steelers (9-7-0): Three consecutive wins to end the season isn’t too bad for the Steelers.

14. Texans (9-7-0): Houston came out victorious in last week’s game with New England.

15. Falcons (9-7-0): Their most recent win over Tampa Bay has Atlanta happy with the end of the regular season.

16. Broncos (8-8-0): Denver has lost eight out of their last 10 games. What happened to the Broncos we knew at the beginning of this season?

17. Giants (8-8-0): The Giants were pummeled by the Vikings 44-7. Things will need to improve for them.

18. Titans (8-8-0): 17-13 victory against Seattle proved difficult.

19. Panthers (8-8-0): Carolina defeated New Orleans last week for their third straight win.

20. 49ers (8-8-0): The 49ers had no trouble smashing the Rams 28-6.

21. Jaguars (7-9-0): Jacksonville came up short against Cleveland last week.

22. Dolphins (7-9-0): Miami ended the regular season with a loss to Pittsburgh 30-24.

23. Bears (7-9-0): The Bears grabbed a victory at Detroit last week.

24. Bills (6-10-0): 30-7 was the outcome of their match with the Colts. What a splendid way for Buffalo to end the regular season.

25. Seahawks (5-11-0): Four consecutive losses aren’t exactly what the Seahawks had in mind.

26. Browns (5-11-0): Cleveland won their last game 24-17.

27. Raiders (5-11-0): The Raiders lost to the Ravens last week to end the regular season.

28. Redskins (4-12-0): Washington put up a fight but lost by three to San Diego.

29. Chiefs (4-12-0): A 44-24 victory was exactly what the Chiefs were hoping to have closing their regular season.

30. Buccaneers (3-13-0): Tampa Bay lost 20-10 to Atlanta last week.

31. Lions (2-14-0): Thanks to Chicago, Detroit lost nine out of their last 10 games.

32. Rams (1-15-0): Last week’s defeat made it their eight straight loss.
