Listed below are this weeks responses by the FG writers to selected NCAA questions.
Gregg, Honolulu, HI: Just wondering how Brian Brohm can be your All-American 1st team QB but not be your top ranked QB in your Heisman Watch List? Or how Colt Brennan can be your higher rated QB for the Heisman but not for the AA list? What are the differences between what is expected from the QB position relative to the two lists? - FG Staff: Very good question Gregg. This was one of the most controversial calls this year, during our All-American Team selection. Basically, the FG All-American team consist of, what we call, the most, "Pro ready" prospects. The FG All-American team consist of the players who project to be, the first player taken form their position, and more than likely, 1st round draft picks. As you noticed, Brohm is rated as the top pro prospect at the QB position in the draft section. On the other hand, the Heisman trophy list, is exactly that (a Heisman list), candidates who have a shot at winning the Heisman trophy. Remember, some collegiate athletes win the Heisman and don't even get drafted. As of now, Brennan is rated as a late 1st, early 2nd round pick, so he has NFL talent. But, with Brennan's potential to put up astronomical numbers, he would be more likely to win the Heisman. There are also votes that go in to play as well, and this year, more votes went to Brohm as the FG All-American QB.
