Every Week FG hands out awards to the players who performed exceptionally during this weeks football action. NCAA Weekly Awards
Offensive Player of the Week
Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma: With all the rave about Malcolm Kelly, and a slew of talented WR's: DeMarco Murray, and all of the Sooner tailbacks, TE Wayne Gresham may be the most consistent, and dangerous weapon that coach Bob Stoops brings to the table. Gresham found himself open vs. the Texas A&M Aggies quite a few times. Gresham caught five passes for 80 yards and 4 TD's, bringing his season TD total to10. The Sooners tossed the ball to Gresham, in route to a 42-14 thrashing of the Aggies.
Defensive Player of the Week
Chad Jones, Safety, LSU: In one of the most anticipated games of the college football season, Nick Saban had his LSU reunion spoiled by a true freshman (a player he couldn't take credit for recruiting). LSU safety, Chad Jones, made the play that gave all the Tiger faithful, the sweet revenge they had hoped for on their visit to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Late in the game, with the score tied at 34, Jones came on a safety blitz, sacking Alabama QB John Parker Wilson, and forcing a fumble which was recovered by LSU inside the Alabama 10 yard line. The Tigers would later hand the ball to Jacob Hester, who plunged in it from 1 yard out.
