Delaware (11-3) v.s. Appalachian State (12-2)

Well Gang, here we are.  These are the two teams that most people picked in the beginning of the season to play for the National Championship and we've all got our wish.  I know I say this every week, but this game really will come down to the play of both QBs.  These young men are both tremendous leaders and playmakers.  Delaware's Joe Flacco is (in my opinion) the best senior QB in the nation, regardless of division.  His live arm and decisiveness in the pocket is unmatched.  Appalachian State's Armanti Edwards is already garnering attention as a possible Heisman Trophy candidate.  Edwards was sensational in the Mountaineers victory of Richmond last weekend. With over 300 yards rushing and 3 passing touchdowns, Edwards was a one-man show.

Defensively, both teams have some holes.  Appalachian State's run defense is their biggest question mark, so it will be interesting to see how they are able to gameplan for Delaware's Omar Cuff.  Cuff is a BEAST running the football and has the speed to attack the boundary as well as underrated inside toughness.  Delaware's Achilles heel has been their ability to limit the big play.  The Blue Hens give up an average of 4 "Big Plays" per game.  This can't happen against the Mountaineers who thrive on the Big Play.

This will be a great football matchup that is a TRUE  National title game.  Look for a lot of emotion early on and by the 2nd quarter, everyone will have settled down and start to play ball.  Appalachian State is playing for their 3rd consecutive national title.  Delaware has been one of the best teams in the FCS all year long.  Both teams have beaten FBS teams (Navy, Michigan respectively).  I just strongly believe that this will come down to the play of the Blue Hens and Mountaineers' secondary.  Flacco should have success passing and Cuff should find some running room.  I just find it hard to pick against a team that has won back-to-back titles.  Expect a shoot-out!!! Prediction: Appalachian State 42 - Delaware 40.
